Hydro Excavation

What Is Hydro Excavation?

Hydro excavation is a non-mechanical and non-destructive process which combines pressurized water and a high flow of moving air (a vacuum) to simultaneously excavate and evacuate native soils at a controlled rate. By safely digging with this technology, it is possible to expose underground utilities such as gas, water and sewer mains, optical fibre, power and telecommunication services without undergoing the risks of traditional excavation techniques. The soil and water slurry are conveyed by vacuum via a “sucker tube” to a truck-mounted debris tank.

In addition to uncovering buried utilities hydro excavation is an efficient and cost-effective digging method for any installation (including signs, telephone poles, fences, guardrails etc.).

Whitford’s have a range of hydro excavation units to suit varying job types with highly trained and competent operators
